Solar powered energy
Solar powered energy is the process of capturing light from sun and turning it into energy. Specifically, this is a process of converting sunlight into electricity or heat.
Solar powered energy can be harnessed for light, heat, and electricity. Its popularity has grown as the cost of fossil fuel continues to rise. Solar energy is becoming an increasingly reliable alternative to traditional power sources, and has even being used to power satellites in space.
Solar powered energy is available in two main forms – Solar Thermal Conversion Or Photo-Voltaic
Solar Thermal Conversion is the process where energy is created when sunlight generates heat. It involves using the energy from the sun to directly heat air or liquids. Solar Thermal Energy is solar energy that transfers heat from the sun to water filled tubes below the surface panels where the heat is stored. Water flows through tubes into tanks for energy storage. This type of solar powered energy would typically be used for heating household water or the backyard swimming pool.
Photovoltaic solar energy is the process of turning solar powed energy into electricity. Photovoltaic panels, made of silicon materials that absorbs sunlight, capture solar powered energy. The reaction in the cells within these solar panels produce energy. Solar energy panels can generate direct current (DC) electricity. Solar powered energy systems utilize inverters to convert direct current (DC) into alternate current (AC), the type of power that runs through most of the electrical outlets in our homes.
Some disadvantages of solar energy include the obvious – Solar power doesn’t work at night, and in some areas of the world it’s not a viable option because there’s just not enough sunlight to make it worthwile. Building solar power stations can also be quite costly, and with current technology it takes quite a few solar panels to generate even a little enegy.
Sunlight is a readily available source of energy that can be used to generate heat as well as electricity. It is also a very clean way to produce energy, and, unlike some other sources, does not produce any pollution. Solar powered energy from the sun is a clean and renewable energy source.

to date, solar panels which generate more than 100Watts are still expensive but hopefully they are getting cheaper each day ~
